155th General Meeting of the Swiss Association for Technical Inspections

The Swiss Association for Technical Inspections (SVTI) hosted its 155th Association General Meeting in Lugano. Numerous members, patrons and guests attended the meeting. The SVTI, a leading organi-sation in the field of technical inspections, used its 155th General Meeting to announce a pleasing result and confirmed its focus on innovation and sustainability.

The 155th General Meeting of the Swiss Association for Technical Inspections (SVTI) focused on the Association’s outlook for the future. However, the SVTI can also look back on a successful year, as the 2023 Annual Report shows. The report reveals a good result, underlining the solid positioning of the SVTI in the mandated sector and of the Swiss Safety Center in the free enterprise sector. Our geographical presence in all parts of the country enables us to operate efficiently and in close proximity to our customers.

2023 from the perspective of the Board of Directors and the Management Board
The SVTI can look back on a pleasing 2023 financial year. All Inspectorates performed well and inspectors and experts were well utilised. The Inspectorates are set up for the future and meet the requirements of the mandate providers in the best possible way. The SVTI Group’s performance with the Swiss Safety Center and its branches was also positive. The strategy of consolidating all commercial activities in the Swiss Safety Center has proven its worth and will be further expanded.

Report on the Inspectorates of the SVTI
The Pressure Vessel Inspectorate, under the new leadership of Dr René Burkhard, reported that more appliances were registered than cancelled. The second Swiss Lift Day in June 2023 in Wallisellen, organised by the Swiss Federal Inspectorate for Lifts (EIA), is establishing itself as an event and meeting place for all those interested in lifts. Within the Federal Pipelines Inspectorate, a working group examined the necessary amendments to the Federal Pipelines Ordinance (PipeO) and the Pipeline Safety Ordinance (PipeSO) in order to establish the technical requirements for new hydrogen pipelines. At the Nuclear Inspectorate, the ‘echolyst – Impact Echo System’ was promoted as a development focus. The Market Surveillance for Pres-sure Equipment carried out a sampling programme to ensure that recalls and warnings were carried out for products already on the market.

Sustainability and innovation in the SVTI Group
In 2023, the SVTI Group implemented various sustainable measures, including the installation of charging stations for electric cars. In 2024, this will include a photovoltaic system on the flat roof of the Richtistrasse 15 building in Wallisellen. In the area of innovation, the focus is on new non-destructive testing methods and supporting industry in its decarbonisation efforts. For example, the innovation fund is being used to fund a project entitled ‘Use of blockchain technologies in testing processes’. Sustainability, innovation and our role as an attractive employer are values that contribute significantly to our ongoing success.
