Roger Bächtiger – New Head of the Swiss Federal Pipelines Inspectorate

After almost 30 years in his role as Head of the Swiss Federal Pipelines Inspectorate (ERI), Ruedi Wendelspiess will be retiring at the end of March 2022. The ERI will not have to do without his extensive expertise just yet, however, as he will continue to be involved in certain projects.

Roger Bächtiger, who has been working at the ERI since 2019, will be stepping into the role. As part of his new role, he will also hold a position on the management board of the SVTI.

Roger Bächtiger is a chartered engineer specialising in the field of mechanical engineering. He has an M.Sc. in Industrial Technologies, an Executive MBA in General Management and extensive advanced training in the field of materials engineering.

He brings with him management and industry experience from a vari-ety of sectors, including from his previous roles at a well-known Swiss manufacturer of rail vehicles and a listed mechanical engineer-ing company based in north-eastern Switzerland, where he held the role of Project Manager and Process Engineer for Large-Scale Indus-try and Process Plants.
